Warm & Cozy

I am so excited for the weather to finally cool down! It's an excuse to cozy up under the blankets with a loved one... to wear fuzzy, colorful socks all day long... to blast Christmas music in your car, house, whatever... and one of my favorites-- to drink holiday beverages from Starbucks!!!

My favorite is the Eggnog Latte! What's yours?

Home-made wreaths!

Thanks to Pinterest, I'm getting pretty crafty lately. Yesterday I completed my very first home-made wreath. I used orange yarn and purple felt, and though I was going for a generic autumn feel, I worry it's a bit too "Halloween" for my taste. Here's the wreath I made...

It was so much fun to make. I'll admit that the yarn-wrapping process took a bit longer than I expected, but once I got the hang of it, I was on a roll. I think my next post will highlight the steps I took to wrap the yarn.

I originally intended to either use felt flowers or some faux pumpkins and leaves from a box of assorted decorations I found on clearance at Michaels, but I somehow ended up doing an argyle design. Never fear, I was so in love with the whole process- aside from burning at least seven different areas on my fingers with the hot glue gun within a matter of seconds- that I know FOR SURE I will be making more. I already have enough accessories to make 3-4 more wreaths, I just have to find the actual wreath forms. I got lucky and found these on clearance at Wal-Mart for only $2 but apparently they were what Wal-Mart calls "non-replenishable" items and were only around for Halloween. A friend and I are currently going through this wreath-crafting phase together and so we are splurging on the $6 floral wreaths at Michaels, but I think depending on how many I'd like to make, I may have to try using plumber's foam from Lowe's and cutting and wrapping it myself. Apparently a six-foot cut of tubing is only around a dollar. My wallet approves!

Here's one more shot of my wreath on our front door. What do you think? Would you love to see this on your front door when you arrive home on a crisp autumn day?
